This is honestly the best thing I have come across, and it lasts for hours! The formula is all-natural and definitely skin-loving.
It also goes beyond expectations by helping with stretch marks and even nappy rashes. Keep reading to see how to make this moisturizer for your face and body.
Tools and materials:
- ½ cup shea butter
- 1 tablespoon almond or jojoba oil
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted)
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 20-40 drops of your favorite essential oils
- 5 drops carrot seed oil (optional)
- Mixing utensils
- Bowls
- Storage jar (preferably non-plastic)
1. Melt the shea butter and coconut oil
First, add the shea butter and coconut oil into a glass bowl.
Then, set the bowl on a pot of boiling water to create a double boil. Stir the ingredients consistently to make sure they are well combined.
Remove the bowl from the pot and allow it to cool properly before proceeding to the next steps.
2. Add essential oils and vitamin E
Next, add the essential oils and vitamin E oils. Stir it to make sure everything combines. You can use any essential oils you like for this step; it depends on what you want to achieve.
3. Store the DIY moisturizer
Simply pour the mixture into a glass jar and let it sit at room temperature until it solidifies.
4. Use the DIY moisturizer
Apply this lovely moisturizer to your body and face! You also won’t need to use as much as your standard water-based lotion. Also, this natural DIY moisturizer lasts for up to 6 months.
Optional - How to add aloe vera
If you want a smoother texture, add aloe vera gel. Simply dissect the aloe vera sideways and add one cup to your mixture (after you’ve added the essential oils).
Use an immersion blender to blend the aloe vera into the mix. You’ll need to add it in slowly, incorporating little bits at a time.
This aloe-based DIY moisturizer lasts about 4-6 weeks, as aloe is a water-based ingredient. If you don't add the aloe, then this moisturizer can be used for up to 6 months.
