Wiping your face with a washcloth

2. How to use the blackhead mask

Cleanse and exfoliate your face as you normally would. Then wipe over your face with a washcloth dipped in warm water to remove any excess oil.

Applying the DIY blackhead mask with a brush

Use a large, soft makeup brush to apply the mask all over your face. Try to keep it away from excessively hairy areas, like your eyebrows and hairline, because it will be really painful when you try to peel it away from those areas.

If you have chosen to add peppermint oil, try to keep the mask away from your eyes.

If you have sensitive skin, use lavender oil instead of peppermint oil. Either one will provide antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal properties, but the peppermint oil will really make your skin tingle, and possibly even make your eyes water. Either oil will counter the bacteria that may be present in the honey.

Let the mask sit on your face for 30 minutes.

DIY blackhead peel-off mask

After 30 minutes, you can start peeling off the mask. As you peel you may feel the mask pulling at any hairs on or near your chin. Be patient and go slowly so you don’t damage your skin or cause a rash.

If the mask tears as you are peeling it off, don’t worry, just keep working from the bottom of your face to the top.

It might take a bit of extra work to peel the mask off your nose. Use warm water to rinse off any stubborn bits of mask that remain stuck to your face.

Washing the face with cold water

Once all of the mask has been removed, wash your face with cold water. Your skin will instantly feel like it is breathing more freely and will feel much softer to the touch than it did before applying the mask.
