DIY Toothpaste Tablets: How to Easily Make Toothpaste Tablets at Home

Who said toothpaste should only come in tubes? In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can easily make DIY toothpaste tablets.


These are great for traveling, when you have guests staying overnight, or simply if you want a natural product that's not only good for your teeth but easy on the environment, too!

Tools and materials:

  • Calcium carbonate
  • Bentonite clay
  • Baking soda
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Stevia drops
  • Copaiba essential oil
  • Spearmint essential oil
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Measuring teaspoon 
  • Non-metallic utensil
  • Ziplock bag
  • Lined baking sheet
Preheating the oven on a low setting

1. Preheat your oven

Go ahead and preheat your oven to the lowest setting.

2. Make the DIY toothpaste tablets recipe

Grab a large mixing bowl and add the following ingredients;

  • 2 Tablespoons of calcium carbonate
  • 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 30 drops of stevia
  • 10 drops of copaiba essential oil
  • 10 drops of spearmint

Add aloe vera gel a tablespoon at a time until you have a paste-like consistency.

3. Add in a ziplock bag

Open your ziplock bag and spoon the mixture into the bag.

Close and seal the bag. Then, snip the corner, just as you would if you were to make a piping bag for frosting.

4. Make tablets

Now, pipe the mixture onto a clean baking sheet. Make sure it forms into droplet-like structures.

5. Bake

Now, pop the DIY toothpaste tablets in the oven and bake them until dry. It should take around an hour or so. The finished product shouldn’t feel sticky or tacky, but completely dry to the touch.

Once dry, remove the tray and let it cool.

Then, place the DIY toothpaste tablets in a jar. You should have enough for the whole month!
