Hi everyone. Today, I’m going to share a super simple adjustment that I made to this gorgeous dress just to make it a little bit more me!

This super easy neckline alteration will change your whole look and I’m completely obsessed with it.

Often, when I make a dress slightly shorter, I get a lot of concerned comments about my modesty! But don’t worry. When wearing a slightly shorter shirt and dress, I recommend putting on a pair of boxer shorts to keep everything covered.

Tools and materials:

  • Dress to upcycle
  • Safety pins
  • Tailor’s chalk
  • Sewing machine
Dress to be upcycled

Let’s get started with the upcycle!

Pinning fabric

1. Pin the middle of the dress

All I’m doing here is gathering up the fabric in the central chest area of the dress and adding a safety pin.

Adding pins

2. Add more pins and mark

Then, I put two more pins equidistant to the middle safety pin and then took the middle pin out.

Marking

Then I marked where it had been with tailor’s chalk.

Straight stitch

3. Sew

Sew back and forth along that line with a straight stitch.
