DIY Gucci Inspired Dress Using the Citrus Dress From Mood Society

Hi Guys! I’ve been wanting to make a Gucci inspired dress for a long time now and I had this vision in my head as soon as I saw the Citrus Dress from Mood Sewciety. When I saw the pattern, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

Not sure if you read my last post or not, but, I’m am the October Sew Your View co-host over on Instagram. The October pattern is The Citrus Dress from Mood Sewciety. This is a free pattern that can be found on the Mood website HERE. You can read my first post HERE, where you’ll get all the details as well as a tutorial on how to make this dress.

Gucci Inspired Citrus Dress

As I stated above, I’ve been wanting to make a Gucci inspired dress for a long time now. It all started sometime last fall, when everyone was making Vogue 1643. The ribbon used gave it a Gucci inspired vibe. How could you not love this?

My Gucci Inspired Dress with Puff Sleeves

So, when I saw the Citrus Dress, all I could think about was how I was going to modify it. Enter my Gucci Inspired Dress. All I could think about was the amazing sleeves I wanted to make. I knew they had to be big and I knew I had never tackled anything like this before. Off I went to YouTube University. I’ve been following Kim Dave and Ellis Sewing Company for a while now and they both had tutorials on how to make a puff sleeve. Apparently, this sleeve style is called the leg of muffon sleeve. I’ll call mine leg of mutton like because I didn’t bother to see how you techincally make this sleeve. LOL I mixed all the tutorials I saw together and came up with my own! This is called the magic of being able to sew your own clothes.

This sleeve is giving me all the Queen Bey vibes! Which BWT, Happy Halloween!!! Does this look familiar? Bow down!!!

So, once I was done with all my research, I decided to record my own video. I think it came out pretty good. Make sure you follow me on YouTube and let me now what you think.

Now that my Sewyourview take over has come to an end, I want to thank Monica from www.thatssewmonica.com. I had THE best time being a co-host for this month and was the best pattern! Super easy and just fab. I hope you guys had fun and love this dress just as much as I do.
