When, is a Summer Dress Not a Summer Dress?
I've made a really cute Summer dress today and I'm so excited to share it with you. Stay with me while I share all the steps and then I'm going to show you how to style it up two ways, for both Summer and the transitional seasons!!
The great pattern is from a new Indie pattern company called Izzo Sews, the pattern I've made today was the Dovestone dress, which you can buy here! > Dovestone Dress Sewing Pattern - Digital PDF — IzzoSew Studio For my version I used a really lovely Viscose Challis with a dark ground from Minerva which you can also pick up here > Minerva Exclusive Seedling Shimmer Viscose Challis Fabric | 1422807 | Minerva
Right, so here we go. I've pre-washed my fabric and I've cut my pattern out. This is a really great and quick make, so stay right there. We will be done in a jiffy!!! 
The first step is to add the pocket bags. I've already neatened the edge of the side seams and pocket bags, then we stitch the seams together all down the sides and around the pocket bags.
Once we have stitched the main dress pieces together we are going to add the channel which holds the tie strap. So here we go, you can see I have stitched the two pieces of the channel together at the centre back and I've pinned the whole thing to the top of the dress. Once this is stitched down, we need to fold the channel over and stitch the channel closed.
Now you can see that I have stitched the channel closed, by folding the top over creating a tube to pass tie through. Just the hem to stitch up now and we're all done!!
Ta-da, how fabulous is this dress, its perfect for those gorgeous summer days or warm evenings. I've styled it up here with some lovely patent heels for a nice evening out. Don't you think its totally feminine and swishy!!?
