Tools and materials:
- Heat protecting spray
- Curling iron
- Clear hair elastics
- Bobby pins
- Anti-frizz finishing spray
- Fine tooth comb
Pre-step:
I have very fine hair that struggles to hold a curl. I’m going to quickly touch up some pieces. Start by spraying on some heat protectant. Let it dry for a minute before using heat.
Curl your face-framing hair.
Elegant, twisted bun
1. Make a ponytail
For this first bridesmaid's hairstyle, leave out your face-framing hair. Then gather the rest of your hair at the back, smoothing the sides with a brush. Tie it off into a ponytail.
2. Split the tail and create the first twisty bun
Split the tail into 2 equal sections, 1 on top of the other. Then twist the top section around your finger.
Then wrap this around the base of the ponytail on 1 side, letting some of the length hang down. Pin it in place with a bobby pin on either side.
3. Make the second twisty bun
Gather together the ends from that half-up bun as well as the other ends and twist those around your finger.
Form another bun right beneath that first bun.
Pin this to secure it, with some ends still hanging out.
Twist the leftover ends around your finger and bring them horizontally across this second bun. Place bobby pins on either side of it to secure it to your head.
4. Pinch and pull
Use your nails to carefully pinch and pull the hair all around the base of the bun to add texture. If you go overboard on this step, you’ll have to start from the beginning.

Boho French twist hairdo
1. Make a small topsy tail
Grab a small section of hair at the back/center of your head and tie it off with an elastic.
Make an opening above the elastic and tuck the tail up into it to create a topsy tail. Then split the tail with your fingers and pull gently to either side to tighten it.
2. Make a faux French twist
Leave some hair out in the front on each side. Gather the rest of the hair in the back and wrap it around your finger, pulling it up. For a slow-motion rendering, see the video at 4:04 - 4:10.
Push it against your head and use bobby pins to secure it.
Fluff out the top a bit.
3. Twist and drape hair from the front
Grab the back half of 1 front section of hair, twist it loosely and then pinch and pull it with your other hand.
Drape it across the French twist and pin the end in place.
Repeat with a section of hair on the opposite side.
4. Finishing touches
Pinch and pull minimally in various places on the French twist.
Spray this hairstyle for bridesmaids with anti-frizz finishing spray. This will keep it in place while dancing all night while also providing flyaway control.
Here’s the final result of this trendy, boho take on the classic, French twist:
Elevated ponytail
1. Make a small topsy tail
Repeat step 1 of the previous hairstyle.
While holding down the tail, pinch and pull gently above the topsy tail to create some volume.
2. Twist sections of hair and cross them over the topsy tail
On 1 side of the topsy tail, grab a 1” sized section of hair and twist it loosely. Hold the end with 1 hand while pinching at the twist to add texture.
Drape this across the other side of the elastic and pin it in place.
Repeat with another section of hair on the other side.
Repeat this process with 1” sections on either side of your head, crossing each over the center and pinning under the first twists.
3. Tie a ponytail
Leave out a small section of hair on either side by your face and tie the rest of the hair into a ponytail. Tighten it gently.
4. Twist the front sections and wrap them in the back
Grab 1 front section of hair and twist it on your finger. Pinch and pull it for texture.
Pull it to the back, over the ponytail to the opposite side. Then wrap the end around the ponytail to hide the elastic.
Pin the small end to secure it underneath the ponytail.
Repeat on the opposite side.
5. Curl some of the ponytail
Add a few curls to the ponytail if you’d like using a curling iron.
6. Finishing touches
Pinch and pull at the twists a bit to hide any gaps.
Use a fine tooth comb to gradually tease sections of the ponytail to add volume.
Apply anti-frizz finishing spray.
