Sometimes you just need a comfy light pair of everyday earrings that look great and don’t feel heavy or irritating. So with these Tagua nut beads, also known as vegetable ivory, it’s easy to make some earrings to wear.

Tagua beads

I choose some light blue Tagua beads that are hoop shaped, very light and with a pre drilled hole in them ready for the jump ring.

Jump ring

I like to make it simple to thread the jump ring into the bead, so these round nosed pliers especially for jewellery making, do the job perfectly. By gripping, opening and twisting the ring it allows the bead to thread easily. I also add a smaller silver jump ring on to attach the ear hook to securely.

Jump rings and ear hook

A few more twists of the pliers and the ear hook is attached . I squeeze the ring tightly to make sure the silver rings can’t fall off.

I then repeat the process for the other earring.

I make a few more in varied different colours as there’s so many beads to chose from and then I have jewellery to match different outfits!!
