15 Chic and Cozy Ways to Style a Fall Scarf
Fall is almost here and I can’t wait to break out my scarves! Follow along with me for 15 different ways to style a fall scarf.
I’m wearing a monochrome base outfit to allow the scarf to be the focal point in each outfit, but you do what works for you.
1. Long
Wear your scarf simply, with each end hanging long in the front, no wrapping necessary.
2. Wrapped once
Hold your scarf lengthwise in front of you and place the center in front of your throat. Wrap it once, behind your neck, and straighten it out so the ends fall evenly in the front.
3. Knot below the neckline
Start the same as with look 2, but make a knot in the front, with a small gap below the neckline.
4. Three knots below the neckline
Start off with look 3. Pull on the ends gently to decrease the gap. Then add 2 more knots for a total of 3 knots below the neckline.
5. One end to the back
This is essentially look 2, but toss 1 of the scarf ends over your shoulder.
6. Both ends to the back
Toss both scarf ends to the back for this stylish version.
Here’s how it looks from the back:
7. Figure 8 and cross-through
Start off with the scarf wrapped around once, with the ends in the front. Pull the loop to loosen it, like this:
Twist the loop and put your hand through the lower opening of the figure 8 shape.
Cross each end through the opening to the opposite side. Here’s the result of this way to style a scarf:
8. Shortened figure 8 cross-through
Loop the scarf around your neck once, putting the ends in the front. Adjust the scarf so that 1 end is shorter than the other.
Lay the longer end under the loop and toss it over the opposite shoulder, to the back.
Bring that end back around to the front, on its original side.
Twist a figure 8 with the loop and cross the ends through the bottom opening.
Here’s this fall scarf look:
9. As a shawl
Open up your scarf and wear it like a shawl.
This is a great, simple way to style a fall scarf when it starts to get chilly out!
10. Even ends in the front
Lay the scarf behind your neck with the ends in the front where 1 end is shorter than the other.
Wrap the long end over the opposite shoulder, to the back.
Tuck that same end through the front of the loop.
The ends should lay evenly in the front for this fall scarf style:
11. The wreath
Start with look 10. Then take both ends and tuck them over and into the loop.
Do this again and the result is a wreath-like scarf look that’s perfect for fall!
12. Long with belt option
Lay the middle of the scarf at your neck and pull the ends evenly in the front. Spread the fabric out at your chest and add a belt if you’d like.
13. Halved with loop in the front
Fold the scarf in half and place the center of the halved scarf at your neck, with a loop on 1 side.
Pull the ends through the loop in the front and puff out the loop for more volume.
14. The faux infinity scarf
Tie a double knot with the ends using the least amount of fabric possible.
Put the scarf behind your neck with the knot sitting on your neck.
Figure 8 the scarf in the front and pull the lower loop over your head.
The result is a faux infinity scarf look:
15. Warm hug scarf style
Quarter the scarf to make a long, skinny length of fabric.
Lay it in front of your throat with the ends over your shoulders.
Cross the ends behind your neck and bring them to the front.
Widen the loop end and pull the other end through.
Here’s the result of this fall scarf style:
It looks great with a long jacket as well!
