Oils

1. Use oils for maximum effect

In India, they truly understand how to use oils in hair for the best impact, and the first tip is to focus the use of hair oil on your scalp.

It’s at your scalp that your hair soaks up all the nutrients from the oil, not at the ends of your hair.

Oils

Some of the oils that are regularly used on hair in India include Henna, Shikaikai and Amla.

But those may not be readily available where you live, so you can replace these with other oils like olive oil, castor oil, peppermint oil or tea tree oil.

Massage

2. Massage the front of your head

Use your two forefingers to massage your forehead just above the space between your eyes.

Massage in a circular motion to help relieve stress.

Massage

Then, move your fingers to just above the arch of your eyebrows and massage in a circular motion to reduce eye tension which can cause hair loss.

Oils

3. Oil your scalp

Apply hair oil to your scalp along your part line as well as to your scalp all around your head.

Use a generous amount of oil, but not so much that it will run down your hair shaft.

Massage

4. Massage your scalp

Massage your scalp starting at the top of your head.

Massage

Work your way back to the very center of your head, which is the point of the least circulation in your scalp.

Tip: When massaging, make sure you use the pads of your fingers, and not your nails.

Massage

5. Massage the back of your neck

Interlock your hands at the back of your head.

Use your thumbs to massage the back of your neck and the lower part of the back of your head.

Massage

6. Massage behind your ears

Use one fingertip pad to massage behind your ears.

Tip: The best time to do all your massaging is at night to promote relaxation and improve your sleep.

Sleep with the oil in your hair and wash it out with a clarifying shampoo the next morning.

Diet

7. Watch your diet for maximum hair growth

If your body is healthy, that will be reflected in your hair.

A typical Indian diet includes chicken, seafood, plant-based and non-plant-based protein.

A general rule is that the more colorful your food is, the healthier it is.

Diet

Spices like cloves, garlic and fenugreek are also very healthy.

Braided hair

8. Consider your hairstyle

Low manipulation hairstyles are key to hair growth. Consider one long braid or a low ponytail – whatever requires the least amount of handling. That will reduce tangling.

Also, trim your hair frequently to keep split and dead ends from affecting your overall hair health.

Nail massage

9. Time for a nail massage

This may sound like it makes no sense, especially since I specifically said don’t use your nails in step 4.

But, there is a nerve underneath the bottom half of your nail that is connected directly to your hair follicles. So, stimulating that nerve will stimulate your hair growth, without having to put your nails near your hair.

Nail massage

Place your hand together so the base of your nails on one hand are touching the base of your nails on your other hand.

Then, simply rub your nails together to stimulate the nerve under your nails.

According to Yogis, it is best to do this nail massage while you are in a calm, meditative state.

Long healthy hair

Even if you can’t do all of these steps, try to incorporate as many as you can into your daily routine. You will love watching your hair get healthier, stronger and longer, and your overall health improve as well.

I have leukemia and my hair almost completely fell out and what didnt fall out became so thin that it brakes off easy and even though I have been in remission for over a year my hair falls out by the handfuls in the shower and after the shower when I comb it out, and I have tried using a big tooth comb and a wet brush and it still falls out exactly the same, So I look forward to trying these tips. Thank you for sharing.
