7 Basic Hairstyles for Medium to Long Hair That Always Look Cute
Today I will be showing you how to do a bunch of super-easy hairstyles for long and medium hair. Some of these styles are my go-to going out looks and some I only wear when I am staying home. I'm more of a makeup person, so I tend to keep it really simple when it comes to hair.
You can wear these hairstyles wherever and however you would like! I like to straighten the top of my hair and curl the bottoms. That's my go-to style, whether I'm leaving my hair down or using one of these hairstyles.
Tools and materials:
- Hair ties
- Bobby pins
- Banana clip
Hairstyle 1: banana clip
Use a banana clip to pull back the top section of your hair and secure it in place.
Here is the side and back.
I find that this hairstyle accentuates the curls. This look is super simple and classy, plus using the clips means that I don't get kinks in my hair from having it up.
Hairstyle 2: simple ponytail
Pull your hair into a medium-style ponytail, making sure to keep your part secure in the front.
Pull out the front part a bit to give the look more volume.
To upgrade this look you can add a scrunchie or wrap a strand of hair around the elastic to create a classier look. Secure with a bobby pin.
This look is so simple yet classy and elevated.
Hairstyle 3: half-up bun
Part the hair around your temples and tie up the top section into a mini messy bun.
Pull the bun and hair forward to give the look more volume. Pin the bun down if necessary.
Here is the front and back.
I love this hairstyle because your hair is still mostly down, but the front is up, creating an adorable bun.
Hairstyle 4: low messy bun
Part your hair in the front, like before.
Pull all your hair back and twist into a low bun. Make sure to keep the part in the front of your hair in place. Tie the bun with a hair tie to secure.
Pull the bun out slightly to create a fluffier, messier look.
Here is the front and back.
I like to wear this hairstyle around the house for a cute and comfy look.
Hairstyle 5: high ponytail
Flip your hair over your head, gather it in your hands, and tie your hair up into a high ponytail. Pull on the ponytail to ensure it sits quite high.
Pull out bits of hair in the front to give the hairstyle a messier look.
Here is the front of the look. I wear this hairstyle all the time. I feel like it looks really good with curls; to be honest, curls make all hairstyles look better!
Hairstyle 6: high messy bun
For a high and loose messy bun, I start the same way as the high ponytail. I flip my hair over and gather it high at the crown of my head. Then, when I come to tying it, I only tie half of it, tuck it around, and it create a messy bun look.
I generally wear this hairstyle at home, but this can totally be a going-out look as well if you add a scrunchie or a cute bow. It looks super cute with the curls coming out of the bun.
Hairstyle 7: pinned on one side
Keep your hair parted in the front and pin one side back.
You can add a twist by doing a simple French braid. This will elevate the look. Pin in place.
Here is the hairstyle from the back and the front. I like to wear this look when I am shooting content and want something that looks a little different.
