There are a ton of sizes and colors of rick rack available, which makes it simple to personalize this quick and easy project in just under 30 minutes.
Upcycle a Market Tote Bag with Rick Rack Fringe
Here’s what you need to make a Rick Rack Tote Bag:
- 1” Jumbo Rick Rack Trim – Fuchsia, Pink, Yellow
- 5/8” Medium Rick Rack Trim – Red, Blue, Yellow, Lime, Turquoise, Green
- 1/2” Small Rick Rack Trim – Pink, Purple, Yellow, Baby Blue, Orange
- 1/8” Mini Rick Rack Trim – Turquoise, Lime, Fuchsia, Purple
- Market Tote – plain canvas
- Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Here’s how to create a Market Tote with Fringe:
STEP ONE
To begin creating the DIY Colorful Market Tote, attach random lengths of the jumbo 1” Rick Rack in Pink, Yellow, and Fuchsia to the top edge of the market tote with hot glue. Use the colors you have on hand.
STEP TWO
Apply random lengths of the 5/8” wide Rick Rack in Red, Baby Blue, Yellow, Lime, Turquoise, and Green to the top edge of the market tote with hot glue.
STEP THREE
Layer random lengths of the small 1/2” Rick Rack in Pink, Purple, Blue, and Orange to the top edge of the market tote with hot glue.
STEP FOUR
Attach varying lengths of the mini 1/8” wide Rick Rack in Fuchsia, Lime, and Turquoise along the top edge of the market tote with hot glue.
STEP FIVE
To finish, cover the top edge of the market tote with a final layer of the jumbo 1” wide Rick Rack in Pink to hide all of the cut edges. This will complete the DIY Colorful Market Tote. Secure with hot glue.
