Here's what you need to make a Custom Tote Bag
- Embroidered Self-Adhesive Letters – 2″ Varsity
- Clear Tote Bag – Dollar Tree
- Americana Acrylic Craft Paint by DecoArt – Festive Green
- Paintbrush
- Ribbons – Assorted Greens, Browns, Blacks, White
- Natural Jute Twine – Dollar Tree
- Ruler
- Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
Here's how to create a Football Team Tote Bag
STEP ONE
Spell out the name of the football team with 2″ Varsity embroidered letters that are self-adhesive. We support the Stetson Hatters because my nephew is on the team as a tight end. I found these white letters at Hobby Lobby and they were 89 cents each.
Paint the letters with Festive Green acrylic craft paint and a small amount of water. Set aside to dry. Leave the letters on the cardboard backing to make them easier to paint.
STEP TWO
To make an explosion bow, gather assorted ribbons, twine, and baker's twine in greens, browns, whites, and blacks. Measure and cut two 10″ lengths of each ribbon. Cut one length of baker's twine to 15″. This will be the center tie.
Lay the ribbons out in an “X” pattern on your work surface with the widest ribbons at the bottom and the narrowest ribbons at the top. Tie the 15″ length of baker's twin tightly around the center and secure in a knot.
Tie the baker's twine tails to the base of the handle of the tote bag, securing tightly with a knot.
Flip the bag and the bow over, then trim any long ends of ribbon and twine with scissors.
STEP THREE
Lay a ruler across the tote and find the center. This bag is 11″ wide and there are seven letters in HATTERS so I will place the second letter “T” at the center at the 5 1/2″ mark. LOVE this clear tote bag from Dollar Tree, it is perfect for taking to stadiums.
STEP FOUR
Remove each letter from the cardboard backing and dry fit the letters across the bag, using the ruler as your guide.
STEP FIVE
Starting in the center with the second letter “T”, remove the backing paper from the letter exposing the adhesive, and lightly place the base of the letter on the bag. Continue to place the ERS and then the HAT letters lightly on the bag. Once you are pleased with the composition, press firmly on the letters to adhere them to the plastic tote bag.
