How to DIY a Super Cute Jean Handbag
Hello everybody! Today, I’m going to show you how to make a really cute jean handbag. One great thing about this project is you don’t need to buy any fabric.
We’re going to be upcycling a pair of old jeans for our fabric. Another reason I absolutely love this DIY is because you can just use glue if you don’t want to sew, which makes this project incredibly easy.
So, go grab a pair of old jeans and let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Jeans
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Chalk
- Glue or sewing needle
- Ribbon
1. Measure and cut
Take a pair of jeans and measure 28 centimeters (11 inches) up from the bottom of one of the legs.
Mark the measurement at several points. Then use the ruler to connect the points into a straight line and cut off that section.
2. Turn inside out and glue or sew the bottom
Take the fabric you cut and turn it inside out. Either glue or sew the bottom, which will be the side without the hem.
3. Cut slits for decorative ribbon
Now measure 5 centimeters (2 inches) down from the top. Mark it in several places and use a ruler to connect them to make a straight line.
On that line, measure 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) in from both sides and cut a small slit into each of those points.
Repeat the same process on the other side, measuring 5 centimeters (2 inches) across the top, then measuring 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) in from the sides and cutting a small slit at each of those points.
4. Thread the ribbon and make a bow
Take two pieces of ribbon that are each long enough to tie a bow. Take one ribbon and thread it through the front and back hole on one side of the bag and tie it nicely with a bow.
Do the same with the other ribbon on the other side. Thread it through the front and back slits and tie a nice bow.
5. Attach straps
Take another longer ribbon to use as a strap. Glue or sew the ends to either side of the inside of the bag and you’re done.
