SEW a Beach Towel Tote in These EASY STEPS!

Get yourself beach ready in these easy steps! No more looking for all the things you need to pack to the beach, have it ready at your finger tips, all in one bag!

Watch the video below for hands on, step by step instructions!

Supplies needed to sew a beach towel tote

  • Cotton fabric – used some scraps, you can find all my favourite fabric shops HERE
  • 1″ webbing or extra fabric to make your own straps

Cut cotton fabric 18" x 28". I folded my fabric in half to cut it (cut 18" x 14", if folded).

Iron the short ends (18" ends). Fold 1/4" to the backside, iron and fold again about 1/4 to 1/2" and iron. Sew the folded edges to hold them in place.

Cut another piece of cotton fabric (it can be the same as above, or different, like I did) approximately 8"x 8.5". Iron and fold edges about 1/4" towards the back. Fold the top edge over again, and sew, as shown in the photo. This is the top edge of the pocket.

Fold the large piece (purple) in half, the the sewn edges at the top. Find the middle.

Find the middle in the floral fabric (the pocket) and sew the sides and bottom to the purple fabric. Make sure to ONLY sew to one side of the purple fabric, it still needs to be able to open.

With right sides together, sew the purple part together on either side. The top part that is open, is the nice hemmed edge and the bottom is folded.

Flip right sides out and iron.

Find the centre of the towel (at one end) and the centre of the purple pouch. Place purple pouch on the good side of the towel, with pocket facing out and in the centre.

Cut 1" webbing or make your own strap, approximately 56". Place on either edge of the purple pouch and sew along each edge of the webbing so it is very secure!

Now the fun part! To fold your towel tote, place towel down and fold in each side to make it the same width as the purple pouch.

FIRST, fold pouch over so it is facing up. THEN fold the rest of the towel over a few times, until you're able to fold it right into the pouch.

There you have it friends! SHE IS BEACH READY!
