Today, we’re doing a faux freckles makeup tutorial. I wanted to do something sun-kissed, freckly, and bronzy. I’ve never done anything like this before and I look so different, but I love the freckles and blush tones.

Applying primer before makeup

1. Primer

First, we’re going in with a moisturizing primer. You want to use a moisturizing product here because you want to make sure you’re glowing, you’re hydrated, and your skin is plump, so blend that in really well.

Applying a skin tint and blending with a brush

2. Skin tint

This tint is a bit darker than my skin, but once I applied it - first, with a brush, and then with a beauty blender to blend it out - it became one with my skin and looked flawless. Your skin should look really healthy and radiant.

Adding a warmer foundation shade as contour

3. Cream contour

Next, use a warmer foundation shade to carve out the cheekbones and emphasize the temple and forehead area.

These are the points you want to hit, especially when you’re nice and tanned, as this will add more shape to your face and give you a little more dimension so your face doesn’t look fully flat.

Applying a light foundation shade in the center of the face

4. Apply a lighter foundation to the center of the face

Take a few of the lighter foundation shades and apply this under the chin area, underneath the eyes, and a little on the forehead so you’re focusing on the center of the face.

This is going to add even more dimension and brightness to the center of the face. This is kind of like highlighting as well.

Applying cream blush with a beauty blender

5. Cream blush

Next, I’m using a really bright pink cream blush and applying it to the highest points of my cheekbones. Really blend that out.

Don’t be afraid to use this bright color because as you continue to blend, it’s going to kind of fade out. I’m also applying it underneath my eyes and at the tip of my nose.

This is going to help give that very sun-kissed look as if you were out and about all day in the sun or on the lake and you come home bright red. That’s the illusion we’re trying to create.

Applying cream highlighter to the top of the cheekbones

6. Cream highlighter

Use this on the top of your cheekbones for some added glow.

Shaping and feathering brows

7. Brows

For your brows, shape them as you like and use a pencil to slowly feather them in back and forth just to give them some more volume and a bit of a bolder brow while still keeping it natural.

Don’t outline it or anything. You don’t want harsh lines. Just lightly color in your brows.

Adding a brow tint and gel for texture

Finish with a fibery brow tint/gel for some added texture and to make them a bit messier.

8. Apply freckle tint

With your freckle tint, just kind of stamp it all over the center of your face. It’s not super harsh and it looks really natural.

Let the freckles set for a little bit, then use a contour brush and just tap it in.

Applying bronzer powder over the faux freckles

9. Bronzing powder

Go in with a bronzing powder to further add dimension. This also adds some tan and color to help it look more natural. You’ll go back and forth with this.

Add freckles, blend, add freckles, blend, basically until you have your desired freckle look.

Applying concealer to the corners of the eyes

10. Concealer

I like to apply concealer underneath my eyes, and in the inner corners and outer corners. This is a really light shade for a brighter under-eye look. I’m using a sponge and just blending that in.

Setting makeup with powder

11. Setting powder

Then, use a bit of powder to set the concealer and make sure there aren’t any creases. I’m also lightly powdering the rest of my face.

Applying bronzer for a sun-kissed look

12. Bronzer

For the bronzer, I’m using a massive angled-like bronzer brush and I’m taking that all the way to the center of my face and outwards. Don’t be shy with the bronzer, so just slap it all over your face.

Applying bronzer as eyeshadow

Put that same bronzer on your eyelid, crease area, and lower lashline, and really smoke it out. Using the same bronzer makes sure that everything matches and flows.

Blending brown shades of eyeshadow

13. Eyeshadow

For eyeshadow, I’m using more of the browns from there just to add more dimension to my eye and blend it out.

Applying a light eyeshadow as a highlight

Then, I’m going in with the lightest shade and applying that to the inner corner, the nose area, cupid’s bow, and chin. I just want a really dramatic highlight, so these are all the places I applied.

Adding another layer of blush

14. Blush

I’m going to go in with more blush since the cream blush kind of faded. This will help add more color.

Applying mascara to lashes

15. Mascara

Just apply mascara. Super easy.

Lining lips with nude liner

16. Lips

Line your lips with a nude liner and then apply a glossy lip gloss as well.
