I love to create eco friendly jewellery and these Tagua nut beads are also known as vegetable ivory . They are the non edible fruits of a palm tree found in Ecuador.

So colourfully dyed and sliced in ready made shapes and so tactile to touch.

Tagua beads

I rummage around checking the Tagua nut beads and choose some similar colours and shapes from the amazing assortment.

Pair up the beads

I love bright, hot colour mixes and I choose some orange, pinks and reds. Using round nosed pliers to open up the silver jump rings as this makes the task so easy.

Jump ring open

I thread the colourful sliced beads onto open jump rings and squeeze tight with the pliers.

Threading onto jump ring

I use sterling silver ear hooks to prevent any lobe irritation and use another silver jump ring to attach the silver ear hook to. You can choose to have them longer or shorter depending on the design look you prefer by using different size rings and fittings.

Add ear hook

Then another squeeze with pliers to secure it firmly. I repeat the process for the other earring until the pair are nice and neatly ready to wear or gift😀

I am thrilled with these summer lovelies!
