Super Easy Hack: How to Fix Broken Powder Makeup
Are you clumsy like me, and always drop your makeup, causing the product to crack?
In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you how to fix broken powder makeup, which can be blush, bronzer, eyeshadows, highlighters etc.
This method uses rubbing alcohol which not only evaporates and does not affect the quality, but it also sanitizes your makeup! Follow along to learn this makeup repair.
Tools and materials:
- Small plate
- Spoon
- Rubbing alcohol
- Tissues
- Glass cup
1. Empty your powdered makeup
First, empty the entire contents of the compact with a spoon into a small dish.
Then, with the help of the spoon, break up the product into an even consistency.
2. Add rubbing alcohol
Add a small amount of rubbing alcohol to the powder. You can add more gradually if needed.
I used 2 teaspoons of rubbing alcohol for this amount of powder. If you’re fixing eyeshadow or less product, you will need less.
Mix the powder and rubbing alcohol until it turns into an even paste.
3. Return to the container
Return the product into its container, pressing it down with the spoon. Make sure to press the product into the edges of the compact.
Avoid leaving any holes because that will make your powder vulnerable to breaking again.
Once the makeup seems even, sweep the spoon over to smooth it out.
4. Flatten
Place a tissue over the makeup like this:
Then, take any heavy object that’s roughly the same shape and size as the compact. I’m using a glass.
Place that object over the tissue and let it sit for a while to firm up the makeup. The tissue paper will soak up the excess rubbing alcohol.
5. Clean up
Now, take a wet tissue and clean up the edges of the compact as needed to give it that new look.
6. Let it dry
Leave the compact open overnight to allow it to completely dry out. When it’s dry, you shouldn’t be able to feel or smell the alcohol anymore.
