In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to get oil stains out of silk or satin clothing.

Models love to slather their bodies in oils, but they’re a stylist's nightmare. The oil leaves that dewy skin migrates to the silk clothing and leaves a shame stain!

Tools and materials:

  • White powder
Stained satin

Baking soda

Here I’m going to show you a quick fix for this.

All you need is some white powder such as baking soda, baking powder, cornstarch, or baby powder.

Applying powder

1. Apply white powder

Attack the stain as soon as possible by laying it on a flat surface and sprinkling it with white powder.

Letting powder sit

2. Let it sit

Make sure it is thoroughly covered, and let it sit for at least an hour.

Removing the powder

3. Remove the powder

Once the time has passed, shake off the powder and dust off the excess.

Just like that, no more stains!

If you have a really stubborn stain and some of the oil still remains, just reapply the powder and let it sit a little longer.

This is such a quick and easy method, I hope you’ll give it a go next time you get a stain on your silk clothing.
