How to Make Any Eyeshadow Into Eyeliner By Adding Just 1 Ingredient
Do you like switching up your eyeliner? How would you feel if I told you that you can convert any eyeshadow you have into eyeliner? That would certainly give you some new eyeliner choices!
Well, follow along with this tutorial to learn how you can make eyeshadow into eyeliner. All you need is any regular or metallic eyeshadow or glitter. Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- Eyeshadow
- Micellar makeup cleansing water
- Eyeliner brush
- Small palette knife
- Stir stick
- Mascara
- Eyelash curler
1. Create your eyeliner
Use a small palette knife to scrape some eyeshadow and put it on some paper or a small plate.
Add a drop or two of Micellar water to the eyeshadow and mix it in. Don’t worry if you accidentally add a drop too much because it will dry pretty quickly.
What is Micellar water?
You may already use Micellar water for makeup remover, but do you know what it is? It looks like water but feels a bit different because it is made up of micelles, which are tiny balls of cleansing oil, suspended in water. It works as a face wash or makeup remover because those micelles are actually attracted to dirt and oil.
2. Apply the eyeliner and be creative!
Apply your new eyeliner with an eyeliner brush.
This eyeshadow eyeliner is also great for making graphic eyeliner designs.
Here, I’ve used gold shimmery eyeshadow to fill in my eyeliner design.
And now I’ve added glitter to my eyeshadow and Micellar water for another look.
3. Finish your eyes
To complement your gorgeous eyeshadow-turned-eyeliner, curl your lashes.
Then apply mascara to your upper and lower lashes.

Oh yes, it’s a wonderful way to have a great pallet of colors to use as eyeliners!
I've been doing this for a very long time now.
I don’t even moisten the shadows. I use the pointed make up Q-tips by just running it across the shadow - and running it across my lash line - as an eyeliner. Easy peasy- done in a flash!
I constantly get tons of compliments on the colors! Ladies can’t believe that it’s just eyeshadow being used as eyeliner!
Much easier to manipulate and control, and
eyeshadow liners make eye color pop!
Thank you for your input Paula.
Actually, I’m not comparing two different things.
Yes, the one technique has softer edges - which I like. I can make it more intense by adding just a tad of water to the applicator, but it’s all about using an eyeshadow as an eyeliner. Nothing different.
