How to Make Wooden Earrings: Cute Post Earrings You Can Make at Home

Earrings come in all sorts of materials, shapes, and sizes. Today, I’m going to show you how to make wooden earrings using a few simple tools.
I love how easy these homemade DIY wood earrings are to make, and I can’t wait to show you the whole process. Get your favorite paint color out, round up your tools, and let’s get this show on the road.
Tools and materials:
- Wooden pieces
- Paint color of your choice
- Earring posts
- Earring backs
- Paintbrush
- Foam brush
- Jewelry glue or E600
- Paper
- Embellishments
- Sandpaper
1. Paint the wooden pieces
Squirt a blob of paint on your paper, and dab a little color on your brush. Next, paint your wooden pieces so that the whole surface is covered.
There’s no fancy technique when it comes to painting the pieces; literally just go with the flow, brushing in the same direction.
Remember to brush the sides, too. Let the paint dry for about 5-10 minutes before applying your second coat.
Once the first layer has dried, go ahead and apply a second coat. Again, the brush strokes must always be in the same direction.
Let the paint dry for 20 minutes before painting the other side.
Carefully flip your wooden pieces onto a new paper and repeat the steps. Add two layers of paint and let the first layer dry before applying the second coat.
2. Sand your embellishments (optional)
So, this step is totally optional. If you have sandpaper, go ahead and sand the wrong side of your embellishment to flatten it and roughen it up.
3. Apply glue
Go ahead and apply some glue to the last embellishment. Dab a little right on the center top.
Now, pick up the second triangle and lay it on top of the third.
Then, on the second triangle, apply more glue to the center-top and place the last triangle on top of that. Repeat the same process for the second set of triangles.
Tip: I’m using a wax stick to pick up the triangles, but you can use your fingers if you don’t have one.
4. Assemble the DIY wood earrings
Pick up your glued triangle piece and apply some glue to the back. Also, add some glue directly to the wooden piece.
Place the piece right in the center of the wooden earring.
Take your earring posts and roughen them up a little with some sandpaper.
Flip your earrings and place a dab of glue to the upper pointed corner. Then, stick the earring post down.
Use hair clips to clamp the earring posts in place while they set and dry.
