Painted Leather Jewelry

Handmade leather earrings and necklaces are really popular right now, so I decided to try my hand at making some of my own using my Cricut Maker cutting machine. No worries if you do not have one, this design is easy enough that you can hand cut it yourself!
If you are using a cutting machine, create your design in the DesignSpace software and cut the leather. If you are hand cutting the leather, trace the design on the back of the leather and cut out your shapes.
Use painter's tape to tape off the shape, leaving one corner exposed to be painted.
I used a Metallic silver spray paint from Rust-Oleum, but you could use any color. You could also use a brush on paint that is compatible with fabrics. Allow the pieces to dry thoroughly before adding the hardware.
If you used a cutting machine, you can have the hole cut for you. If you hand cut the leather, you will need to use a sharp object to poke a small hole through the top of the earrings and pendant, large enough to accommodate the jump ring.
For the necklace: use pliers to twist open the jump ring and thread it through the hole in the leather, then squeeze the ring back closed. Slide the pendant onto your necklace chain.
For the earrings: use the process above to attach the jump ring to the earrings, then attach the ring to the earring hardware.
How cute is this matching set that can be customized to any size or color!?
