Tassel keychains are one of those accessories that everyone likes. Women, men, kids, elderly, everyone likes having them around because they’re stylish and neat.

Since they’re appealing to most, they make wonderful presents that you know the person on the receiving end will like and surely use.

You can buy these tassels almost anywhere, but most of those you can find in stores are either pricey or not so well made.

If you make them yourself, you’ll get a quality product and have fun along the way. This tutorial will teach you how to make cool DIY leather tassels.

Cut the leather

Cut out a piece of leather measuring 4.5 x 7 inches in size. Then cut a thin, quarter-inch strip of leather that’s about 4 inches long. Finally, cut another strip that’s just under an inch wide.

Make the fringe

Draw a line parallel to one of the long sides of the leather piece. Keep it just under an inch away from the edge. Use chalk or a pencil for marking.

Slice the leather perpendicular to the marked line, going towards the farther long edge of the piece. Keep the cuts about a quarter-inch away from each other and make them along the entire width of the leather piece.

Finish the leather tassel

Apply glue to the thin strip’s wrong side. Fold the thin strip in half with the wrong side inward.

Apply glue to the entire section without the slices, from the edge to the marking. Place the raw edge of the loop onto the glued section, perpendicular to the marking, all the way in one corner of the leather piece.

Roll the whole thing around the glued loop.

Now that you formed the tassel, just add a finishing touch. Take the other strip you cut out and apply glue to it. Roll it around the tassel top, just under the loop.

Your new accessory is ready, I hope you love it! You can place it on your purse, keys, backpack, and so on, it goes with almost anything! Be sure to check out our other tutorials, we have more coming soon!
