Hello everyone!

Have you any vintage sliver jewelery looking a bit tarnished in your jewelery collection.

Tarnish can ruin the look and value of your sliver so cleaning it is a must.

You dont need harsh chemicals and risk removing any sliver.

Fortunately there's a better way to clean sliver, and it relies on household ingredients and some savvy science.

I got this locket and chain for my 21st birthday it was vintage when it was bought it was Victorian, it shows with the dirt.

And my mum necklace that had became tarnished.

When I found these in one of my meny jewelry boxes.

I at to restore them back to there glory to show them of.

Below my vintage locket looking very dirty indeed.

You will need

Salt and aluminium tin foil a plastic dish 👍

As you can see the locket as aged even more looking dirty.

I use a old plastic dish

I line the dish with foil like below

Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the container

I use sea salt full grains.

They will dissolve in the water

Add hot water to the dish

Like below

Below is my mum necklace it became a bit tarnished so I stopped wearing it .

Not knowing this trick

As you can see it's rather dirty.

I put the sliver pieces into the dish

Like below

As soon as you place your sliver into hot salty water you will notice straight away, it start to work

Your sliver items should rest on the foil making direct contact to the aluminium foil.

You can wrap the foil around the sliver so more foil touches the sliver.

30 mins after,

The science part is cool.

The sliver sulfide (the tarnish) transfers its sulfide ions to the aluminium, converting aluminium sulfide on the foil.

If you look below you will see it floating in the hot water

After 30 mins I was very pleased with the results

With kitchen towel or a clean dry cloth lay your sliver on to dry

Dab it dry with your dry cloth.

Gently buffing the sliver like below

Wow.

It as lifted so much dirt.

I repeated using a clean dry cloth for the mum necklace.

Which to was shining like new

I can were thease now

Such a waste just lieing in my jewellery boxes.

And there we have nice shiny clean sliver

I am very happy to have restored my sliver locket and chain

It looks brand new from the Victorian days

I was a bit apprehensive about this method as I have sentimental value to this piece of sliver

But I'm pleased to say this really works!

No harsh or abrasive chemicals,

I'm sure you all have a sliver necklace, or pandora bracelet it works on it all.

Make it shine bright once more

Hope you try this easy, cheap way to clean all your sliver jewellery.
