These thin shells are called Jingle shells and they definitely jingle! You cand find them on most southern breaches. These are from the Florida Gulf Coast! They are iridescent and I thought they would make a perfect set of earrings.

I started by sizing them from smallest to largest and finding ones that somewhat matched.

Using my smallest drill bit, I drilled holes on either side. Make sure you go slow so not to crack the shell.

On one side of the largest shell, I connected an earring hook. I went to a jewelry store to get these in sterling silver since the fake stuff bothers my ears.

Using clasps and pliers, I added the ring to the other side of the shell and connected the next largest. You can purchase these at any craft store.

Repeating this 3 times to create the chain of shells.

Do I look like I belong to the beach instead of the office!? I guess I will have to pretend for now!

I think I like the lack or uniformity since they are natural shells and nothing in nature is perfectly uniform!
