How to make homemade lilac soap with melt and pour soap. This uses lilac absolute for a wonderful and true lilac scent.

You can't add fresh or dried lilacs to melt and pour soap. The soap will draw water as it sits, which will cause the flowers to grow mold and rot. So I used lilac infused oil instead. Lilac infused oil has skin benefits, but it doesn't smell like lilacs. I used lilac absolute for the scent.

To make lilac soap, you will need:

  • 1.5 pounds white melt and pour soap
  • 1/2 teaspoon purple mica
  • 1/2 teaspoon silver white mica
  • 2 teaspoons lilac infused oil
  • 50 drops lilac absolute
  • 4" silicone soap mold
  • 2 measuring cups
  • Wood craft stick
  • Wavy soap cutter

Cut the soap into 1 inch cubes and divide between the two measuring cups. Heat in the microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. Stir at each interval.

Add purple mica to one container and silver white to the other container. Add 25 drops of lilac absolute and 1 teaspoon lilac infused oil to each container. Stir well.

Pour a thin layer of white on the bottom of the mold. Don't cover the entire mold.

Wait 5-10 seconds and pour some purple. Again, don't cover the layer. Keep alternating until the soap is gone.

If your soap gets too hard, heat it for 10 seconds and stir again. When it's full, let sit 6 hours or overnight.

Then cut into bars of soap. You'll end up with a beautiful swirl in your melt and pour lilac soap.

I have more information about lilac absolute and the oil in my blog post, so read my homemade lilac soap post for more information. I also have each product linked so you can find them easier.
