How to Do DIY Purple Ombre Nails With Glitter, Using Dip Powder
In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to create stunning ombre nails with glitter. This is a perfect summer nails look, that is achieved with a technique you may not be familiar with – nail dipping. Intrigued? Follow along for all the details and step-by-step instructions.
Tools and materials:
- Nail dipping kit
- Soft fluffy nail brush
- Small nail brush
- Nail buffer
1. Start with nail primer
Apply nail primer to your nails. Primers help to remove any remaining oil from your nails, improving how well your base coat will adhere to your nails.
2. Add your base coat with a twist
Doing one nail at a time, apply the base coat and then submerge your nail into nail dipping powder. Never heard of dipping powder? The powder is a very fine acrylic that will make your manicure last super long. It is used in combination with an activator product that cures the powder, and your manicure, with required UV light.
When you remove your finger from the dipping powder, tap on it gently to shake off the excess powder.
Continue until all of your fingers have received a base coat and a dip.
Then use a large, very soft, fluffy nail brush to dust any remaining powder off your nails.
3. Now for the glitter!
Use a nail polish brush to apply glitter to your dipped nails.
And dip each nail again after the glitter coat, tapping off the excess dip as you go.
Now dip just the tip of your nail directly into the glitter. Tap off the excess glitter as you did with the dipping powder.
Use a small brush to apply more glitter to your nail if you want and use your soft, fluffy brush to remove any loose powder or glitter.
4. Activate the dipping powder
Now is the time to apply a coat of the activator so the dipping powder can do its magic.
5. Buff out your nails
Use a nail buffer to smooth the tips and tops of your nails.
Then go over the tops of your nails with a roller nail file. Brush off your nails once more.
6. More activator
Go back for a second coat of activator.
7. Ready for your top coat
Now your nails are ready for an application of top coat. Remember to apply the top coat to the tips and edges of your nails as well.
