In this DIY, I’m going to show you how to make a pair of women’s wrap pants from linen.

We all know about wrap skirts, but not everyone knows that you can actually make pants in a wrap style too. These pants are really different and unique and so, without further ado, let’s begin!

Tools and materials:

  • Linen fabric (100x100cm)
  • Ruler
  • Tailor’s chalk
  • Scissors
  • Plate
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine with a serger
Marking the fabric

1. Mark the fabric

Fold your fabric in half lengthwise and then in half again so you have two folds.

On the two folds, measure and mark 13cm from the bottom on the vertical line. On the horizontal line, mark 25cm in from the corner.

Connecting the points

2. Connect the points and cut

Draw a curve that connects these two points. The curve will measure 32cm (12.6 inches). Proceed to cut along this line.

Marking the opposite corner

3. Mark the opposite corner

The remaining length line at the bottom should measure 75cm. Cut off any excess fabric.

Mark 15cm down from the top as well as 15cm in from the side in the opposite corner from where you cut before.

Drawing a curved line

4. Draw a curved line and cut

Place and plate in the corner and draw around the edge to connect the two points with a curved line. Then cut along this line.

Where to sew

5. Sew the curved section

Open up the fabric and place the two right sides together.

Sew around the large curved section with a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine with a serger.

Folding in the sides

6. Fold in the sides and sew

Fold the top layer of the side in by about an inch and pin it in place as shown. Do this all around the pants.

Repeat on the other side of the pants and then proceed to sew the rolled hems down.

Opening up the pants

7. Open up the pants

Open up the pants by holding the two parts on either side together, as shown.

Cutting strips of fabric

8. Cut strips of fabric

Cut two strips of fabric that measure 160x8cm (63x3 inches).

Pinning the fabric to the pants

9. Pin the fabric to the pants

Find the center of the loop and pin it to the center of the pants on the wrong side.

Continue to pin all the way around and sew. Then repeat on the other side of the pants.

Folding the band down

10. Fold the band down

Turn the pants right side up. Fold the strip of fabric down twice and pin it to the top of the pants.

Pinning the sides

11. Pin the sides

With the remaining fabric at the sides, fold the end in and pin it down to hem it.

Fold each long side in by about 1cm (0.4 inches), then fold the band in half and pin it down.

Repeat this process for the rest of the band on both sides of the pants.

Where to sew

12. Sew

Finish the pants off by sewing the band down all around.
