This easy DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub is just as luxurious as you think a Peppermint scrub would be! Imagine the wonderful scent of peppermint and coconut greeting you every time you open up your container of sugar scrub. Did I mention this only takes 15 minutes to make?

Making your own sugar scrub is so easy! Once you start you won't stop!

Can you Use This as a Foot Scrub!

Yes, you definitely can!

What Type of Sugar is Best?

I normally use plain old white granulated sugar from my pantry. It's the most cost effective and it's a great exfoliator. If you have sensitive skin though, make sure to test it out first.

Can I Use Sugar Scrub Every Day?

Normally I use it once a week.

Can I Use Other Oil?

Instead of coconut oil, you can also use grapeseed oil or jojoba oil.

Can I Use Peppermint Extract Instead?

Yes, but preferably no. If it's pure yes. But, the key thing to remember is that you aren't getting any of the benefits of the peppermint. It's best to use an essential oil OR fragrance oil.

What Ingredients Do I Need?

  • Granulated sugar – you should already have this in your pantry.
  • Peppermint essential oil – or Peppermint fragrance oil
  • Coconut oil – to moisturize your skin
  • Crushed peppermint - you can use peppermint sticks or peppermint candy. I found that using peppermint sticks works better than using the hard peppermint candy.

Step 1: Mix together the sugar and coconut in a medium sized bowl. Normally I do not melt the coconut oil. I have found that just by mixing it with a spoon, it will break down on its own.

Step 2: Next, add in the essential oil or fragrance oil and the crushed peppermint. Stir together until everything is combined.

Step 3: Add in pink food coloring if desired. Scoop into an air-tight storage container.

Step 4: Enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 20 drops Peppermint Fragrance Oil and/or Essential oil
  • 5 drops pink food coloring optional
  • Crushed peppermint sticks (I used three small peppermint sticks and crushed those with a meat mallet. It was equivalent to about 1/8 cup)
Instructions

In a medium sized bowl, add in the granulated sugar and the coconut oil. Stir the ingredients together until they are well combined.
Add in the essential oil. You may decide to add in more essential oil and or fragrance oil depending on whether or not you prefer more of a peppermint smell. Next add in the crushed peppermint/
Once you have combined the ingredients together, if you want a nice pink peppermint look to your sugar scrub, add in a few drops of pink food coloring. Spoon the sugar scrub into an airtight container. Then top with additional crushed peppermint.
Enjoy!

Thank you Rhonda! Happy l’ll be careful. 😀

    • Let me know what you think about it! We will be posting a lot of different varieties after the first of the year including a whipped version. My husband even uses it on his hands during the winter as his hands get really dry. You are very welcome!
