Here is a braid and bun hairstyle for long hair, that is far easier to do than the finished result looks like. I call it a handball hairstyle, and you’ll see at the end why!

You won’t need any special tools, so let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Comb
  • Hair elastics
Sectioning hair

1. Section your hair

Pin the top help of your hair on your head to keep it out of the way, and separate the lower half of your hair into two sections with a center part.

Braiding

2. Make braids

Make a simple three-stranded braid from each of the lower hair sections.

Loosening braid

Use your fingers to slightly loosen the braids.

Making high ponytail

3. Make high ponytails

Separate the top of your hair into two equal sections by extending the center part from below.

Then, put each of those sections into a high ponytail.

Weaving in braids

4. Weave in your braids

Bring one lower braid up to the diagonally opposite ponytail, and pull the braid through the ponytail elastic.

Weaving in braids

Repeat with the remaining braid and ponytail.

Remove the elastic from the end of the braid, so the braided hair blends in with the ponytail.

Twisting ponytails

5. Twist the ponytails

Separate one ponytail, with the blended-in braid, into two sections and twist them together.

Making coiled bun

6. Make a coiled bun

Coil the twisted ponytail into a bun at the top of your head.

Repeating steps

Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the other side.

Just a pony tail would be much simpler and easier to do. Looks cute but too complicated - ha ha
