Get the Perfect Ponytail With These 3 Easy Tips
Ever since I grew my hair long, it has been bothering me, always covering my face, and I have been looking into different ways to style it.
My all-time favorites are of course sleek ponytail hairstyles. Here are my 3 top tops for the perfect ponytail!
Tools and materials:
- Bathrobe tie/fabric belt
- Hair ties
- Bobby pins
1. Curl your hair
I always prefer curly ponytail hairstyles over my natural straight hair. To create baby curls, I do not use any heat, I just wrap my hair around a bathrobe tie/fabric belt overnight.
If your hair is a bit wavy, it will be easier to get extra volume.
2. Use layers
Layering is a great principle in every area of our life: skincare, clothes, makeup, and so much more. To make a sleek ponytail, I recommend making two layers, and there are two ways of doing it.
The first way is starting from the bottom. Split your hair into two parts (lower and higher) and start with the bottom ponytail. Then add the top layer, tie it with a hair tie, and put the two ponytails together.
But today I want to show you another way of doing it, and one I like way better. Not only does it create the lift of two ponytails, but it also gives your hair a lot of volume.
Separate your hair into two parts and start with the upper ponytail. It is okay if you cannot divide the back of your hair perfectly, we are going to cover that part anyway. Secure the ponytail with a hair tie, and make sure it is tight.
The next step is to separate the bottom part in two and bring it back together over the top ponytail. Tie it with a hair tie.
This is what the result is supposed to look like.
Now the place where the parts of the hair come together looks a bit strange, so we are going to cover it with hair. Take a strand of hair from the bottom of the ponytail and tie it around it to hide the hair tie.
3. Use bobby pins
If you still want more lift to your ponytail, bobby pins are your best friends. Put a bobby pin into the back of your ponytail vertically to let it serve as the foundation of the ponytail.
And here is the result!
If you have bangs, you can pull them out, and in general take out a few strands to give the sleek ponytail more of a messy, volumized look.
Perfect ponytail
Here is the final result!
I had to remake my ponytail because I messed up the last stage, so this ponytail is a bit lower than the original one, but both look great.
Now you know how to make a sleek ponytail or a messy ponytail, whichever one you prefer, and I am sure you are going to look awesome.
Let me know if these tips worked out for you! And leave a comment if you have any hacks of your own for the perfect ponytail.
