Try Out This Awesome Ponytail Hack for Voluminous Hair
In today’s tutorial, I want to show you how this awesome ponytail hack.
I love this ponytail trick to get a nice, full, and big ponytail. This is going to work best if your hair is medium-length or longer.
Tools and materials:
- Hair ties
- Texture spray
Here’s what my hair would look like just in a regular ponytail. It’s not bad, just a basic ponytail.
We’re going to use a ponytail volume hack to make our ponytail look a lot fuller, a lot more voluminous, and a lot more scrumptious.
1. Clip away the top section
Start by putting your hair into three sections. I’m going to start my first section right above my ear and section it front to back.
You don’t want this to be a huge section. Clip it out of the way for now.
2. Create two ponytails with the rest of the hair
Divide the rest of the hair into two sections and create two ponytails right on top of the other.
You want to try to make them the same thickness.
3. Create a small hole in the top ponytail
Create a small opening in the top ponytail just above the elastic that you can fit your fingers through.
4. Pull the bottom ponytail through the top and tighten
Reach down and grab that second ponytail, and pull it through the first ponytail.
Tighten both ponytails.
It should look something like this.
5. Spray your hair with texture spray
Take some texture spray, which is amazing, and spray it all through your hair.
This includes the top section you clipped away and your ponytail.
6. Tease the top section
Take small sections from the top section and tease it a little.
When you tease, do it gently right at the root. I don’t like to do it too hard or too extreme, because I don’t want to damage my hair.
7. Combine all of your hair together
Flip your hair back over and combine the top section with all of your ponytails with a hair tie.
8. Pinch and pull
Tighten everything and then pinch and pull the front of your hair.
Now you can see just how full it looks without any teasing on the ponytail.
9. Tease the ponytail
We are going to tease the ponytail just a little bit. Take it in sections and tease the ponytail.
10. Pull out face-framing pieces
Pull out some baby hairs to frame the face a little.
Ponytail hack
Here’s the finished ponytail look! You can pull out more hair in the front to make it messier, but I just kept it simple.
That’s it for this ponytail hack! The key to a fuller ponytail isn’t gathering your hair all into one section and tying it off, but instead doing multiple sections and adding them together. This is what creates the appearance of a fuller ponytail.
