In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to create a braided headband hairstyle.

We’ll be styling the hair at the front of our head in such a way that it looks like a headband!

Tools and materials:

  • Comb
  • Hair elastics
Tying ponytail

1. Tie a ponytail

First, make a side parting. Then on the smaller side of your parting, take a small section of hair at the front of your head and tie it into a ponytail.

Flipping hair

2. Flip through hole

Make a hole in the top part of the ponytail above the elastic and pull the hair through.

It should join with the rest of your hair on the other side of the parting.

Tying a second ponytail

3. Tie a second ponytail

Now take the section of hair next to the one you were just working with and tie a ponytail.

The ponytail you made before will now be incorporated into this section.

Flipping hair

4. Flip through hole

As before, make a hair in the top part of the ponytail above the elastic and pull the hair through to the other side.

Repeating process

5. Repeat

Repeat this process three more times or until you get to the other side of your head.

Pulling each section

6. Pull each section

Gently pull on the hair of each section to make it more puffed out.

Backcombing

7. Backcomb

Finish off the look by backcombing the top sections of the rest of your hair to give it some more volume.

Here is the finished pull-through headband look! I love all of the twists at the front.

This is a really cool way of giving your own hair a headband effect.
