With Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s time to start thinking about the makeup look you want to do for the romantic holiday.

For this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to do a glamorous red Valentine’s Day makeup look so you can look your best, whether you’re going out with your partner or you have a date with your friends.

Tools and materials:

  • Face balm (or moisturizer and primer)
  • Foundation
  • Bronzer
  • Setting powder
  • Blush
  • Highlighter
  • Eyeliner pencil
  • Mascara
  • Lip liner
  • Lipstick
  • Setting spray
Filling in eyebrows with a brow pencil

1. Eyebrows

Start by filling out your brows. I really want more of a natural finish, so I’m gonna use the pencil to draw on some individual hairs.

Cleaning up eyebrows with concealer

Then, I’m going to clean them up with some concealer to give them more shape and a sharper look.

Setting brows in place with brow gel

To set them in place, I’m going to use brow gel.

Prepping skin with a face balm

2. Prep the skin

Now that our brows are out of the way, let’s work on the face. I want to give my skin a bit of a satin finish. I don’t want to look like I have too much makeup on, but I want my skin to look healthy and glowy.

I’m going to start by applying a face balm that acts as a moisturizer, primer, and mask at the same time. It’s a very thick consistency that really hydrates my skin and makes my skin feel soft.

The face balm is also pretty tacky which means my foundation is going to stick pretty well.

Applying foundation with a makeup brush

3. Foundation

For my foundation, I'm actually mixing two shades to get the perfect color for me. Apply a single sheer layer of your foundation and use a brush to blend it out.

Applying bronzer to the cheekbones

4. Bronzer

Now you should go in with your bronzer. I prefer a bronzer that is very natural and doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. Apply with a brush; this is going to add some warmth to our face.

Applying concealer under the eyes

5. Concealer

For concealer, I’m going to use a beauty blender and just press it gently under my eyes. It’s so thin and really brightens up the under-eye area.

Setting makeup with setting powder

6. Set

To set, I’m using the matte setting powder and just pressing it gently across my skin, then blending it out with a really big powder brush.

Applying a shimmery bronzer

7. Bronze again

I wanted to add a bit more bronze, so I went in with a shimmery bronzer. This bronzer really gives the face a more luminous glow.

Sculpting cheekbones with bronzer

Now, I want to cut my cheekbones just a little bit for a sharper, sculpted look so I’m applying bronzer to define that line on my cheeks.

Applying a rose gold blush to cheeks

8. Blush

For blush, I’m going to go for a rose gold blush as I think it complements a bold red lip really well. I’m going to apply that to the apple of my cheeks.

Applying highlight with a fan brush

9. Highlight

For my highlight, I’m brushing it across my cheekbones, the tip of my nose, and my chin.

Using bronzer as eyeshadow

10. Eyeshadow

For my eyes, I want to keep it fairly simple, so I’m going to take a bronzer from before and apply it to the crease of my eye and underneath my lower lash line.

Applying black eyeliner to elongate the eyes

Then, with a black eyeliner pencil, line your upper lash line and smudge it out into a wing with a thin brush. I really like this look because it elongates my natural eye shape.

Applying mascara to the upper lashes

11. Lashes

Fake lashes can be too overpowering, so today we’re just going in with mascara. I’m going to use this on both my upper and lower lashes.

For my lips, I’m going to start with a red lip liner.

Then, to fill them in, I’m using a bold red lipstick. The rest of my makeup is pretty natural, which makes the red lip really stand out.

Setting makeup with setting spray

13. Set

To set everything in place, I’m going to use a setting spray. Spray it all over your face.

That’s it for my red Valentine’s Day makeup look tutorial. My face and eye makeup are actually quite natural, but the red lipstick really makes this look sexy and perfect for a Valentine's date.
