Tools and materials:
- 3 fully opened roses
- 1-2 cups of jasmine flowers (common jasmine is the most fragrant)
- Distilled or filtered water
- 6 ice cubes
- 2 bowls
- Pot and cover for boiling
- Smaller pot to place inside larger pot
- Small strainer
- Glass bottle with mister
- Larger glass jar with cover
1. Take petals off roses
Working over a bowl, take the petals off of three roses. I chose organic roses to promote healthy scalp and skin.
2. Mix in jasmine
Mix a small bowl of jasmine in with the rose petals. I chose organic jasmine which promotes glowing skin and shiny hair.
3. Add water
Add water to rinse the petals.
4. Mix
Mix the rose and jasmine petals and the water. Use your hands to gently toss the ingredients.
5. Transfer petals to pot
Add the flower petals to a pot along with 1 to 2 cups of filtered water.
6. Add a bowl
Put a smaller bowl in the middle of the mixture. The bowl is placed there to collect the water.
7. Prepare to simmer
Put the pot cover on upside down. Put the pot of petals and water onto a burner on your stovetop.
Put the burner on low. The flame should not reach the top of the pot.
8. Add ice cubes
Add ice cubes in the middle of the upside-down lid that’s sitting on the pot. Keep the pot on the stove with the low flame. The ice cubes will speed up condensation inside the pot.
9. Slow boil
By now, the petals and water inside the pot should be slowly boiling.
10. Remove lid
Once you see that the smaller pot on the inside is filled with water, remove the lid from the larger pot.
Carefully remove the smaller pot from the larger pot.
11. Cool
Let the pot cool down.
12. Transfer the water
Once the water is cool, pour it into a small glass bottle with a mister.
13. Shake and mist
Shake once or twice before using. Mist the floral water on your face and body.
14. Remove the water from the large pot
Use the cooled down rose and jasmine water from the larger pot as a hair rinse. Use a small strainer to separate the water from the petals. Add just the water into a separate jar.
