In today's makeup tutorial, I'm going to be showing you how to create probably the easiest-ever skull makeup for Halloween, using a popsicle stick and sticky tape as hacks along the way. Let's get started with our sexy skeleton makeup!

Tools and materials:

  • Lip scrub
  • Lip balm
  • Moisturizer
  • Primer
  • Sticky tape
  • Foundation
  • Beauty sponge
  • Setting powder
  • Eyeshadow
  • Makeup brushes
  • Eyeliner pen
  • Concealer
  • Brow brush
  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Eyelash curler
  • Mascara
  • False lashes
  • Popsicle stick
  • Wig
Preparing the face

1. Prepare your face

Push your hair back just so it doesn't interfere with the makeup. Starting with the lips, apply some lip scrub and lip balm to condition your lips.

Moisturize your face, and to keep the makeup long-lasting you need a sticky base so for that apply some putty primer.

Sticking tape to face

2. Stick tape to face

For the makeup, start with the jawline which is the place we'll build the hollow for the cheekbones. Use some sticky tape and remove a little bit of the stickiness by sticking it on the back of your hand because you don't want it to be too harsh on your face.

Picture an imaginary line running all the way from the corner of your mouth to the tip of your ear and that’s where you’re going to be sticking it. Do the same on the other side of your face.

Applying foundation

3. Apply foundation

Now apply some foundation below the sticky tape, so it's going to be in the jawline as well as the neck. Then blend it out with a damp beauty sponge. Proceed to set the foundation with some loose setting powder.

Drawing a black line

4. Draw a black line

Take a black eyeshadow with a small blending brush and using the tape as a stencil, smoke out the eyeshadow just below it.

Keep adding more color till you’re happy with the intensity. The nice thing about this is you don't have to be precise, that tape will take care of that for you and give you a clean finish.

Sharpening the line

5. Soften and sharpen the line

Now soften and diffuse this black line using brown eyeshadow. You want to create an ombre effect that is darkest at the tape and gets lighter as it moves lower.

When done go in with an eyeliner pen and draw along the tape to create a sharp line right at the top. Then remove the sticky tape.

Applying foundation

6. Apply foundation and concealer

Apply some foundation to the top part of the face above the black line.

Then, use a light color concealer to highlight. Also, use the highlighter around your eyes and this will set the base for any eyeshadows that you’ll be using next. Then set the concealer with some powder.

Defining brows

7. Define brows

Brush your brow hair upwards and then fill in the sparse areas in your brows.

Applying eyeliner

8. Apply eyeliner

We’re going to do black smoky eyes for this look because it almost looks like hollows in the eye socket.

Start by tightlining your waterline. Then smudge this using a black eye shadow and then continue to smoke this out further all the way up your lids. Once done, smoke out the edges with the dark brown.

Adding false eyelashes

9. Apply false lashes

Curl your lashes, apply some mascara and then add false lashes.

Contouring face

10. Contour your face

Let's do some light shading to add some dimension. Use dark brown to extend brows in the inner part of my brows as well as to contour your nose.

Also, use it on the sides of your nose, your cheekbones, and your jawline

Filling in the nose

11. Fill in nose

For the hollow in the nose, take your black felt-tip pen and draw almost the shape of a triangle leaving a small gap on the top.

In the gap, draw a deep V. Then fill this entire space with black using the same pen and then set it with some black eyeshadow.

Drawing on the teeth

12. Print on teeth

For the teeth, if you’re worried that your hands are shaky, and you won't get straight lines or edges I’m going to show you an easy way to do it using a regular popsicle stick.

Apply some eyeliner on the side of it and all you have to do is just stamp it on your lips. Now use some light concealer to highlight between these lines. When done, set it with some loose powder.

The great thing about this makeup look is that nothing has to look pretty, it just has to look creepy so it's very forgiving even if you don't apply your makeup so precisely or blend it so well. Just try your best with the makeup and you’re guaranteed to have a great skull as the result.
