How to Make Glamorous DIY Ombre Glitter Heels Inspired by Jimmy Choos

The holiday season calls for some razzle and dazzle, and what better way to do this than to add a little glitter to your life? These DIY ombre glitter heels are perfect for the holiday season, and I’m going to show you how to make your own glitter high heels at home.
I was inspired by the Jimmy Choo glitter heels and had to make my own spin of this. Let’s start!
Tools and materials:
- Pumps
- Mod Podge
- Glitter set
- Painters tape
- Paintbrush
- Spray glue
- Mod Podge spray
- Chunky glitter in black and silver
1. Choose your glitter colors
Ultimately, you want to choose two colors to achieve that ombre look. This is my color combination but feel free to choose any color your heart desires.
2. Use painters tape
Tape off any areas that you don’t want to get glitter on with painter’s tape. I went along the base of the heel.
Tip: I didn't do this, but I recommend taping off the shoe’s sole, too.
3. Apply glitter
First off, use a water-resistant, high-gloss Mod Podge for these DIY ombre glitter heels. Work in increments and add it in sections as you go along. Here, I started with the front of the heel with a clean painting brush.
Tip: Do this over a magazine.
Now, sprinkle the glitter.
If there are any bald spots, just go over it with more mod podge and glitter.
Now, carry on doing the rest of the sections. Turn the magazine over, making sure the glitter from the previous section stays between the pages.
Here, I did this part in two sections. I put a piece of tape as a guideline for the other side, making sure both sides are symmetrical and even.
Once the two colors are done, close the magazine and pour the remaining glitter into a bowl. Now, both colors are mixed and perfect for the ombre effect!
Next, add a line of Mod Podge between the two colors and pour on the remaining glitter mixture. Like this, you’ll be blurring out the seam.
I did, however, feel that this was not achieving that perfect ombre look. So, I went ahead and sprayed adhesive between each section. The mist of this adhesive really helped in creating a more dissolved design.
Carry on with the following sections, going from dark to light.
4. Take off the tape
Now is a good idea to go out and rip off that tape from around your heel.
5. Apply glitter to the heel
I felt that the heel was too bare, and it looked kind of cheap if I left it untouched. So, I did the same process here, going in with some Mod Podge and sprinkling on the lightest colored glitter onto the heel.
6. Seal the glitter
Cover the entire heel with Mod Podge so that everything stays in place and sealed.
7. Add chunky glitter
I wanted more sparkle, so I chose to add a second layer of glitter, but this time I used chunky glitter. I sprayed some Mod Podge mist over the shoe and started with black saturation at the toe, then sprinkled the chunky black glitter randomly over the heel.
I did the same at the top with the chunky silver glitter.
