Fun Ways to Upcycle Shoes and Add Personality

I love sustainable fashion and one way I practice this is to upcycle shoes and make them unique.

All these items came from my stash, so use whatever you have available.

You’ll need some strong craft glue as well.

  • Applique flowers
  • Old belts

  • E6000 glue
  • Superglue
  • Hand sewing needle and thread
Tools and materials

1. Ballerina Mary Janes

For the first pair I wanted to incorporate some ruffle ribbon and applique flowers.

I glued the ruffle under the strap and the flowers on top, to give a 3D effect.

And of course I had to add some ballerina ribbon ties for a super feminine look.

2. Watch this

For the second pair I wanted to have some fun with some broken watches.

I also cut up some old belts to attach to the straps.

I glued everything in place first.

Because the additions were quite heavy, I sewed them in place as well with some strong thread.

They turned out so cute! And they’re also the comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn.

If you add your own quirky personality to everything, you’ll never look like one of the crowd.

My style may not be the same as yours, so experiment. Don’t be afraid to be creative and unexpected.
