Side Dutch Braid Into a Fishtail Braid 🤍
Hi everyone! Follow along with this quick tutorial to learn how to create a side Dutch braid that transitions into a fishtail braid. Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- 1 ponytail holder
- 1 clear hair elastic
1. Split 3 sections by your part
Start by making a side part. Starting from the side of your part, about 1/3 of the way down, grab a bunch of the hair.
Split that hair into 3 equal sections.
2. Start with a Dutch braid
Instead of making a regular braid, each time you will pull the sections underneath the center piece.
After one round of pulling the side sections under the centerpiece, add hair to each outside section and pull them under the centerpiece, like before.
Continue this process of adding in hair to the strands and braiding under the centerpiece until you reach the point behind your ear.
Tie it off with a ponytail holder for now.
3. Split the hair into 2 for the fishtail
Split the hair under the ponytail holder into 2 equal sections.
4. Braid the fishtail
Starting with the outside half, take a small piece of hair from its side and join it with the inside half.
Then, do the same thing on the inside half, taking a small piece from the side and adding it to the first half. This will create an X shape.
5. Continue and secure
Continue this until the end of your hair.
Secure the end with a clear hair elastic. Then remove the middle ponytail holder.
