Fall is such a pretty time of year with its abundance of warm colors. This soft autumn makeup tutorial for mature faces will help you pick some autumn-toned makeup to show off your own beautiful face at its autumn best.

I'm using makeup by Look Fabulous Forever, but you can use your own makeup to recreate this light autumn makeup look.

Tools and materials:

  • Face moisturizer
  • Face primer
  • Eye primer
  • Foundation
  • Eyeshadow
  • Blush
  • Mascara
  • Lipstick
  • Assorted makeup brushes
Applying moisturizer and primer

1. Moisturize and prime your face

Moisturize and apply face primer all over your face except for on your eyes. Primer goes under your foundation to smooth out fine lines, fill in open pores, and creates a smooth surface for your foundation.

Applying foundation

2. Foundation

Apply your foundation with a foundation brush or your fingers. Blend in the foundation all over your face, stopping at your jawline. Use a downward, diagonal motion over your cheeks. You probably need less foundation than you think – the secret is to buff it in really well.

Applying concealer under the eyes

3. Concealer

Use a concealer brush to apply concealer around your eyes, wherever there is some darkness – under, around and in the corner of your eyes. Use your fingers to tap in the concealer to make sure that it’s well distributed.

You can also put concealer on your nose, if you have broken capillaries, and on your chin to help smooth it out.

Applying eye primer

4. Eye primer

You only need a tiny amount of eye primer. Dab it onto your clean, dry eyelids, then use your concealer brush to blend it in. This will keep your eyeshadow from creasing.

Applying a peach-colored cream blush

5. Cream peach blush

Now for some autumnal shades. Use a cream blush in a peachy tone on your cheeks. Dab the blush along your cheekbone with your finger, from about the center of your eye, moving up and out toward the top of your cheekbone. Use a blush brush to blend it in.

6. Autumn toned eyes

Use a palette with three brown-toned autumn colors. Start with the lightest cream color and apply that all over your eyelid to just above your eye socket line.

Now add a medium brown just above your eye socket line, using an eyeshadow brush.

Finally, use the darkest eyeshadow as an eyeliner by putting a small amount on a small, angled brush, dabbing off the excess, and then applying it to your lash line in short strokes. Add a little wing up at the outer end of your eye line.

Apply the same dark shadow as an eyeliner under your lower eye lashes.

Applying mascara to the lashes

Apply black mascara to your top lashes. Wiggle the mascara wand through your lashes while slightly blinking to get really good mascara coverage.

7. Autumn toned lips

Finish off with an autumnal, amber-toned lipstick. Use a lip brush to apply the lipstick, because it will help you get a really nice definition.

I'm 60 and quit wearing makeup a few years ago. I can't find any that doesn't sink into my lines and wrinkles. I just use aloe vera gel and/or moisturizer. On the plus side, my skin is in better shape than ever. But, your make-up looks so good that I just might have to give it another try.
