Hot Tips for Transitioning to Your Spring 2023 Wardrobe
Today, I'm sharing essential styling tips to transition your wardrobe to spring. Follow along and I’ll show you how to shop your closet for updated spring outfit ideas!
I don’t know about you, but I find that spring and fall, or “shoulder season” are full of beautiful pieces but it can sometimes be confusing.
I’ve come up with a few ideas based around a few elements of style that can help us take away the stress of figuring out what to wear.
1. Color blocking
This spring 2023, don’t be afraid to work with color in your wardrobe.
If you have a bunch of neutral clothing in your closet, I recommend picking 1 new color to pair with it.
You could go with navy jeans and a lighter colored top. Or even try neutral colors like khaki or cream!
Cardigans are great for layering, but in the spring, try pairing a closed cardigan with just a bralette.
I love this deep V contrasting with the boxy cut since it’s the perfect juxtaposition of feminine and masculine.
For a different take on the cardigan, try wearing it with the V in the back.
Here’s a look from the front. I’ve paired the cardigan with these 70’s inspired trousers.
2. Play with textures
Another element that’s great to work with in the transitional seasons is texture. This can mean fabric choice and also accessorizing. Look for lighter textures in a classic cut for spring 2023.
The boxy look of this purse is softened by the raffia material which really brings it into spring.
You can do this with clothing as well.
One of my favorite fabric choices from winter to spring is a beautiful silk. This silk blouse offers a romantic texture and the long sleeves give you the coverage in case it’s still chilly.
I love the contrast between the light top and the heavy denim.
3. Use proportions to your benefit
Without snow on the ground, the maxi hemline of these jeans are fitting for spring and very dramatic.
Try balancing them out by adding a blazer of equal visual weight.
Another fun hemline combination to play with is polished shorts juxtaposed with a tall boot plus something heavier, like a blazer or knit on top.
The mix of proportions makes the look feel more interesting.
Even though the shorts are pretty short, there’s enough volume on the legs so I still feel comfortable.
Plus, the boxiness of the blazer balances the skin showing on the legs.
4. Don’t overlook socks and stockings
I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about accessories, however, rather than go to purses and jewelry, let’s talk about socks and stockings.
Light socks are a great way to allow you to start wearing shorts in early spring. These socks bring warmth and texture to this outfit.
Pair socks with a more feminine shoe, especially if the socks are hitting you right at the calf, which can be a bit awkward.
If you keep the shoe in a lighter color, that can also help.
Stockings are a game changer if you live in a cooler climate.
If you have trousers like these which expose the ankles, a nude or a black fishnet or nude polka dot tights adds a bit of interest while keeping you warm.
