This DIY exfoliating Strawberry Sugar Scrub made with coconut oil, strawberry fragrance oil, and freeze-dried strawberries, not only smells great, but is a great way to give yourself some self-care this Winter!

The best thing about making your own sugar scrub is that you will only need a few ingredients such as white granulated sugar, coconut oil, freeze-dried strawberries, and strawberry fragrance oil.

You will need to store this in an air-tight container in a dry place. If you do, your scrub should last two to three months.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you don't really like using coconut oil, you can use another carrier oil such as almond or jojoba oil.

Keep in mind that even though sugar scrubs are great for our skin, they are a bit harsh on our faces. You may want to avoid using them on your face.

Also, one small investment you might want to make if you are getting into make your own scrubs and use them a lot is a drain filter for your tub or shower. If you are going to be making scrubs that use a lot of additional things, such as a coffee scrub or strawberries, like with this scrub, you are going to want the filter to catch them. Our drains aren't made to catch the coconut oil plus them additives. Coconut oil will resolidify, and these additives may cause plumbing issues.

Another thing to remember about using sugar scrubs is that the oil may make your tub/shower slippery so use caution when getting in and out of the tub.

Step by Step Directions

  1. Grind the strawberries.
  2. Mix together the ingredients. Add in the fragrance oil.
  3. Add into an air-tight container.
  4. Use and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup freeze-dried strawberries
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • Strawberry fragrance oil optional – 1 – 2 drops
Instructions

Grind or smash the dried strawberries. The consistency will be dependent on what you are looking for. Then set aside.
In a medium sized bowl, add in the white granulated sugar and the coconut oil. You will not need to melt the coconut oil. As you are mixing the ingredients together, it will start to melt down on its own.
Next add in the strawberries and stir together.
If you are adding in the fragrance oil, do that now. ONLY ADD IN 1 to 2 DROPS. That is all you will need.
Add into the container you are using and enjoy.
