In this style guide, I’m going to share with you some cottagecore winter outfits that I put together.

Cottagecore is all about connecting with rural life and nature, and I think that it’s a perfect aesthetic for this winter season when the leaves are falling off the trees and the rain and snow are falling down.

Overalls

1. Overalls

In my first outfit, I’m wearing a handmade knitted sweater under a pair of denim overalls.

The sweater is so soft and warm and has a variety of knitted patterns on it when you look up close.

I think that the denim material of the overalls contrasts really nicely against the wool, and all in all, this outfit is just super cozy and comfortable.

It brings that cottagecore vibe while still being a nice, straightforward outfit that you can wear day to day.

Flannel shirt

2. Flannel shirt

A sweater skirt is a must for those who want to wear the cottagecore aesthetic and give it a feminine feel.

The material makes the skirt really thick, so it will keep you warm and won't blow up in the wind. I paired it with a flannel blouse that has a gorgeous square-shaped open neckline.

To accessorize, I’m wearing a wool beret. I also have on a gold necklace and some gold earrings that add a subtle bit of shine to the look.

Denim dress

3. Denim dress

My thought with this outfit combination is you can really take any short sleeve dress that you have, add a nice warm wool cardigan on top, and make it into a cute winter outfit.

Doing this allows you to get more wear out of the pieces you already own.

I recommend picking a dress that's in a thicker material, like denim, as I’ve done here.

Because blue denim is such a versatile color, you can pair it with any color cardigan you like. I went for one in a nude color that has really nice pom-pom details around the shoulders.

Button-up blouse

4. Button-up blouse

In this outfit, I’m wearing another flannel shirt, but this time it’s a button-up. There’s something about this gingham print that makes it work perfectly for cottagecore outfits.

Maybe it’s because I could picture a farmer wearing a shirt like this. I’ve paired the shirt with a pair of khaki pants, and the green color is obviously a no-brainer for a nature-inspired look.

The silhouette is loose fitting, and this outfit is great for those who want to dress in a bit more of a masculine way.

Button-up blouse

Having said that, if you do want to add a feminine touch to it, you can add in a hairpiece.

I went for a big, black statement bow which adds some style to the back of my outfit.

Dress and sweater vest

5. Dress and sweater vest

I love wearing a sweater vest on top of my dresses in the winter. I think that it’s a great way to layer, but you can also easily take the vest off and only wear the dress if you get too hot.

I’ve stuck to brown and green as these are the two colors you will find the most in nature. The dress is also made of linen which is a natural material so it is very breathable. The dress is great to twirl around in and I think this is a very simple yet stylish outfit.
