Get On This Hot, New Trend: DIY Tie-Dye Hoodies

There is no better surprise than a DIY tie-dye! The uniqueness of tie-dye means that every piece comes out with a different pattern and design. It is the perfect way to upcycle old clothes which is exactly why I decided to tie-dye an old hoodie.
Tools and materials:
- Hoodie
- String/elastic bands
- Scissors
- Dye salt
- Dye
Wrap and tie the hoodie
To get started on this tie-dye transformation, I wrapped and tied up the jumper with some string. You can definitely use elastic bands in this step instead of string.
Add dye salt
Before adding the dye, I added some dye salt to the water.
Add black dye
I then added some black dye to the solution and placed my jumper in the tub. I left the jumper to soak for about 3 hours.
Rinse the dye
Next, I unwrapped the hoodie and rinsed it under cold water.
Wash the hoodie
I then popped the hoodie in the washing machine for a quick wash.
Repeat the steps
I decided to add a pop of color to my hoodie. I tied it with string again and then added some tulip pink dye to a new solution.
Once again, I left the hoodie to soak and then rinsed it under cold water.
Add some sparkle
The tie-dye and pop of color looked absolutely amazing! I love a bit of sparkle so I hand sewed a few crystal stones on each side of the hoodie’s pocket.

This turned out great. I thought the black would be darker than it turned out. The pink shows up well
