I don't know about you but I'm thoroughly over the summer!!

I'm craving my jumpers and boots and when I saw this lovely French Terry I had to make a super new hoodie.

I set about making the Stella hoodie by Tilly and the buttons. I cut the fabric according to the pattern, I used the straight size 7 from the pattern with my rotary cutter but I added a contrast scrap of cotton jersey to line the hood. This contrast was from a previous make and it was great to use up something which would have been too small to make anything worthwhile with, I'm always so happy to not put pretty fabric in the trash bin!! The hood section has three pattern pieces which I joined together with my overlocker.

For the body of the hoodie, I initially cut the front and back sections as the pattern suggests and I had planned to just leave it a longer length, but then the shops started filling up with the new oversized but cropped versions and I just knew I had to hack it!!

So I took my trusty sewing scissors and chopped off 6 inches from the bottom!! EEEKK I was a little nervous at this stage, but I decided to make the section I'd cut off into a bit of a feature by folding it in half with the long sides together and then cutting it into one long strip, that allowed me to over lap one end over the other! The waist band is a cute fold over and I think its a really great feature, I don't know about you but I think this is a total hit!!

In my pics I've styled it over a cord skirt in a lovely Olive coloured corduroy but I think it will go with so many other bottoms, such as jeans, and joggers!

I always like to pre-wash all my fabric, here its been washed and dried and I'm ready to begin!!

I just love how the hood lining creates a complimentary contrast!

Just before I chopped the bottom off!!

Too late to change my mind now!!

I must say I think this is super cute, but maybe I'm a little bit biased!!

Although I tweaked the pattern it was based on the Stella Hoodie by Tilly Warnes, I've added the link to the book it came from, but I actually got the book from my local library and traced the pattern, this is such a great resource and means you can try out a book or the patterns without laying out cash in advance!!
