Today I’m going to show how to rework a t-shirt and a flannel into a t-shirt with flannel sleeves.
This top is so unique and customizable. You’ll never have to worry about wearing the same thing as anyone else because no one else will have this in their closet.
Ready to make your very own DIY flannel t-shirt? Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- T-shirt
- Flannel
- Scissors
- Fabric marker
- Pins
- Sewing machine
1. Mark the shirt
Place the ruler on your t-shirt right before the seams of the arm. Then draw a straight line going all the way down the shirt to the hem. Repeat on the other side.
2. Cut out the middle
Follow the line you created and cut out both sides of the shirt. The graphic should be in the middle of the shirt and the shirt should be just missing the arms.
3. Cut out the sleeves of the flannel
Use the squares of the fabric of the flannel as a guide, and cut a straight line through both layers about an inch before the arm seams start. Do this for both sides.
We’re going to be replacing the middle fabric of the flannel that you just cut out with the middle of the graphic t-shirt.
4. Turn all of your fabric inside out
Before we sew, make sure you turn the t-shirt middle and the flannel sleeves inside out and right sides facing.
5. Pin the flannel to the t-shirt
Take the shoulder seams of the t-shirt and line them up with the shoulder seams of the flannel sleeves and pin them right sides facing.
Continue to pin all the way down the shirt with everything right sides facing.
6. Sew the flannel to the shirt
Once everything is pinned, use a zigzag stitch to sew the fabric together. Make sure to back tack at the start and end of each line you sew.

I think it would look prettier if u just cut the front of red shirt
I love this idea, especially for tshirts and flannels that I’ve out grown but love. Put the two together and you have a better fitting unique shirt. Thanks for the inspiration
