The 70's Are Baaaacccckkkk! In the Form of a Vogue Skirt

I have to tell ya I ain't no Vogue pattern sewing Sista! I know some people love their patterns but I must say that I am not that Chic. I buy them occasionally because they do have some of the most unique designs but it's not very often. When I saw this pattern I fell in love with this skirt and the bonus was that it is a easy vogue pattern, I was winning the day I bought this sucker. I will say if you are new to sewing it may not be that easy for you to fit these panels but if you take your time you should be able to work it out.I had planned on making a few of these for one post but then I went and decided to make this easy skirt into something extra [ya'll know how I am]. I knew I wanted to make a denim version so I measured and cut out strips of all different hues of denim and then I sewed them together into one big piece of fabric and cut out my pattern pieces. That was a very interesting process. I added top-stitching to the panels but I also realized that I liked the way it looked without the top-stitching as well. Mori likes it without the top-stitching so I will at some point make another one for her and keep this skirt on display in my sewing space.

Now on to these boots. Sooo I wanted a knee high boot that would remind me of the 70'S and I lucked up on these boots. I knew I was going to do something with them so the color didn't really matter. I decided to add denim to these babies instead of painting them. Now These boots only cost me $10.00 and I knew they would only be used for these photos so I could do all the experimenting that I wanted to do, without pause. I just started gluing strips of denim on the boots with Mod Podge and this is what happened. I think they came out pretty cool for photographing. Now I have to let you know that Mori was OK with the skirt but she was not really feeling these boots at all. I knew she would not like the boots when I bought them but it's my photo shoot and I'm the boss!

Very cool! As a teen raised in the 70s, I definitely would have worn this! Awesome job! It also would have looked totally cool if the boots were left black & a black turtleneck worn. Looks like you have the talent to be a designer! Love that skirt!!!
