The Braided Mohawk Tutorial!
If you’re looking for an edgy and beautiful updo that you can create yourself, look no further!
Follow along with this step-by-step tutorial to learn how to make this show-stopping braided mohawk.
Tools and materials:
- 16 clear hair elastics
- Bobby pins
1. Make 12 ponytails
Start by making 12 small ponytails all the way down the center of your head. Secure each with a clear, hair elastic.
2. Split, pull and join
Take the first ponytail and split it into 2 equal sections, bringing each to either side of your head.
Then pull the next ponytail forward, between the split ponytail.
Now join the 2 pieces of the front ponytail, placing an elastic around them.
3. Repeat to complete a section of 3
Do this same process with the 2nd and 3rd ponytails.
The result should be a section of 3 ponytails combined. At this point, use your fingers to fluff out the sections for volume.
4. Braid the ends and fluff
Now, pull the ends to one side and braid them regularly.
Add a clear, hair elastic at the end to secure.
Then, fluff out, or “pancake” the sections of this braid with your fingers.
5. Make a bun
Once secured and fluffed, wrap this braided piece around itself, positioning it at the top of your head.
Then, secure it in place with a few bobby pins.
Then, once in place, gently pull in different places on the bun to give it a more even shape.
6. Repeat the entire process
Do exactly the same process with the next 3 ponytails, starting with step 2 of the directions (split the ponytail, pull the next ponytail over, join with an elastic, braid the end, wrap a bun and secure with bobby pins).
Then repeat this twice more with the ponytails after this, in groups of 3.
