This Is How You Should Apply Your Skincare

Skincare is so important. What you put on your skin and how you apply it makes a difference. But did you know there's a proper technique for applying products? This technique helps with proper blood flow and lymphatic drainage in your face. Scroll down to learn how you should apply your skincare.

I am currently using the Dior Capture Totale line of products ( linked here). They are considered high end skincare products and are pricey ($45-160 each), but they have long lasting effects. If you're looking to invest in quality skincare, I recommend trying this line. You can find a smaller starter set here.

I have also included a few affordable and budget-friendly skincare options as well.

Applying Face Serum

You want to apply your skincare from thinnest to thickest. If you have a toner use it before a serum.

When applying a product all over your face, you want to work your way from the middle out. Start at the side of your nose and work your fingers up and outward toward the edge of your face. Repeat the same outward motion from the edges of your mouth. Bring your fingers from the middle of your face outward and up toward your temples.

Repeat the same outward motion for your chin and forehead. Start at the middle and gently move your fingers outward to the edge of your face. Repeat the motion until the serum is all rubbed in.

I use the Dior Capture Totale Super Potent Serum but you could also use Good Molecules Super Peptide Serum or any other serum you use.

Applying Eye Serum

A two-step eye set is not super common, but if you have both a serum roller or applicator and a cream, begin with the roller/applicator. You only want to apply a little product on the applicator since your eyes are a delicate area. Beginning from the inner corner of your eye, gently glide outward toward the outer corners. You do not want to go back and forth or use a lot of pressure. Repeat the outward motion from the inside out a few times to apply the product. This helps with lymphatic drainage in the eye area.

Applying Eye Cream

Similarly to applying an eye serum, for eye cream you want to start at the inside corner of your eyes and move outward. With the cream, create gentle circles counter-clockwise around the eye socket (under your eyes, up and around your eyebrows). Once again, this helps stimulate proper lymphatic drainage in the eye area.

I use the Dior Capture Totale Cell Energy Firming Eye Cream, but I also like the Tarte Maracuja C-Brightening Cream.

Applying Moisturizer

Just like the serum, you want to work from the middle outwards. Apply the same technique as you would for serum, starting by your nose our mouth and working your fingers up and outwards toward the edge of your face and temples. Moisturizers and night creams can be a little thicker so it's ok to gently pat or press the product into your skin. After applying, lightly press your face to help the product absorb.

I use the Dior Capture Totale Cell Energy Firming Cream, but I also like the Good Molecules Silicone Free Priming Moisturizer.

I hope this quick tutorial was helpful! The more you use this technique, the more you should see results.

This is good information because a lot of us just don’t know how to properly apply the products we use. I see a lot of people just rub around in circles. 😳

You are so right! I was one of those people before I was taught how to apply properly. 🙈 I'm glad this is helpful!!

Thanks, helpful info to help lymphatic circulation and working product into skin not rubbing in.
