Make a DIY Off-Shoulder Shirred Crop Top With Flared Sleeves

I love a good shirred crop top in the summer. It’s cute and fashionable and absolutely perfect for hot weather. My favorite part? It’s totally something you can make on your own. Follow this tutorial to learn how to DIY an adorable off-the-shoulder crop top with flared sleeves and get ready for summer!
Tools and materials:
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Sewing machine
- Iron
The first step is going to be to cut your fabric. You'll need it to be at least twice the amount of the width of your bust and twice the amount of your desired length,
Next, you’re going to cut the sleeves. These will need to be twice the circumference of your arm and at least 15 cm in length.
Take the piece of fabric for the top and fold it, then sew the edges together. Next, fold the bottom and top edges twice and sew them down.
To gather the fabric, first, you’re going to wind a bobbin by hand with elastic thread in the color of your choosing. You can experiment with a few variations of winding and test it out on a scrap piece of fabric to figure out what works best for your sewing machine. Then insert the bobbin into your sewing machine.
Select the straight stitch on your sewing machine and change the stitch length to a longer setting of about 3-4 inches. Then insert your fabric, right side up, and sew straight horizontal lines all the way down your fabric. Do the same for the top parts of the sleeves.
Once you’re done sewing the horizontal lines, sew the sides with a straight stitch to secure the elastic threads.
Using the steam on your iron, iron the shirt to cause the stitching to shrink even more.
Lastly, take your sleeves and attach them to the shirt. Once you’ve done that, you are done!
That’s it! I love this top! I think it’s so cute and I can’t wait to wear it. It looks great with a matching skirt, but will also look awesome with jeans or any other bottoms. Since you can choose any fabric you like for this top, the possibilities are endless. Match it to your favorite bottoms and get ready to rock it! I’ve got to see your versions of this project, so be sure to leave me a picture in the comments!
